Woodhaven 4555 Box Joint Jig

Cheap Woodhaven 4555 Box Joint Jig Review

The instructions were shredded so I got duplicates from the manufactures web site. After initial set up the jig worked great and my first finger jointed drawers for a child's desk were perfect. I read an article in woodworking magazine on a finger jointed blanket chest where Chris Schwarz used thin viscosity super glue on the joints once the joints were together. The glue will seep into the assembled box joints and the method worked great without the mess of yellow glue as the tightness of the fit prevents glue from staying in the joint.

The metal finger joint spacer works because the wood spacer with shop made jigs will wear down after a short time and the successive joints become sloppy.

Read the instructions carefully and take time with test cuts.

This jig is less expensive than others and works great. You can use it on a router table or table saw. I used a Freud finger joint dado set which gave perfectly flat bottoms. A router table with a miter slot would work better - use a spiral cutter for efficient chip removal.

Good luck.
