I'm the owner of a Grizzly 3HP 1023 SLW left-tilt saw Grizzly G1023SLW 10" Left-Tilt Cabinet Table Saw and after much research and cogitation ordered the Delta Uniguard system to replace the stock blade guard/ splitter combination. I read on some forums that the fit was a problem because of Grizzly's Biesemeyer-type fence rails, so I ordered the Uniguard Biesemeyer flat adapter bar, too, thinking I would need it. I didn't, and it wouldn't work anyway, so I returned it. Don't make my mistake!

The Uniguard blade guard's U-shaped pipe is easy to mount underneath the Griz's L-shaped rear fence bar once you drill three holes in the bar, more or less equally spaced. The Uniguard's mounts bolt up underneath the bar and the pipe slides in. This took all of five minutes, and though the guard arm may have an inch or two less clearance from the tabletop at the blade, this isn't a problem. It works like a charm. So does the splitter, once aligned behind the blade.

In short: I'm a happy camper! True, no dust port, but the simplicity of the setup in use and the huge savings compared to other similar systems makes up for that in my opinion. My fingers feel much safer, and the saw now seems more elegant to use, especially on long rips. Using the router mounted underneath the table may be a bit more complicated now, but I have yet to find out.

The DELTA 34-976 Deluxe Uniguard Table Saw Blade Guard fits DELTA 10-inch Unisaws and Contractor's Saws, and has an innovative, overhead design that doesn't have a mounting bracket behind the blade to interfere with dado cutting or molding operations. The operator remains protected for non-through cutting operations since the blade guard doesn't have to be removed. For through-cutting, the guard has a removable splitter with anti-kickback pawls that afford the operator additional safety. With a U-shaped support arm, you'll be able to cut the full capacity of the fence; you can also keep half the guard elevated for use of a push stick when cutting with the fence close to the blade. The Uniguard Table Saw Blade Guard comes includes the guard, splitter, table mounting bracket, support arm and extension.
